Title I, Part C Migrant Education Program
Intent and Purpose of the Title I, Part C Migrant Education Program (Education of Migratory Children):
Support high-quality and comprehensive educational programs and services;
- Ensure that migratory children who move among the states are not penalized in any manner by disparities among the states;
- Ensure that migratory children receive full and appropriate opportunities to me the same challenging state academic standards that all children are expected to meet;
- Design programs to help migratory children overcome educational disruption, cultural and language barriers, social isolation, various health-related problems, and other factors that inhibit the ability of such children to success in school; and;
- Ensure that migratory children benefit from state and local systemic reforms
Every student group has their own set of eligibility criteria. Examples:
- Immigrant
- Emergent Bilingual
- Experiencing Homelessness
- Changed residency or crossing school district lines (in the last 36 months)
- Moved with a qualified worker
- Temporary or seasonal worker (work in agriculture/fishing)
