Athletic Physicals will be available on August 3, 2017 for all incoming 7th, 9th, 11th graders as well as any student who was contacted in the spring by the athletic staff regarding a physical.
Football two-a-days will begin August 7, 2017 for all incoming 9th, 10th, 11, and 12th graders who were in athletics at the end of the school year. Please contact Patrick Goodman, Athletic Director with questions.

Senior FFA members Cody Harris and Clayton Ramsey won 1st place Senior Team in the Animal Systems division at the State FFA Convention Agri-Science Fair on Tuesday. The pair's project looked at the effects of Nutri-drench, a high-energy supplement, on average daily gain and mortality in neo-natal lambs. The team traveled to Corpus Christi on Monday and were judged Tuesday morning. They will be recognized in the general session at 1:30 on Wednesday and will each receive a $1000 scholarship from the Texas FFA Association. Wednesday evening, both seniors will be receiving their Lone Star Farmer degrees along with Trent Clark, Reyna Uilkie, & Paige Binford. This is the highest degree of membership that can be awarded by the state FFA association. Congratulations to these FFA members for all their hard work!

Dr. Tracy Brewer Chosen as Assistant Superintendent of Instruction and Learning

Dr. Tracy Brewer was named Assistant Superintendent of Instruction and Learning during the Special Board Meeting, by the NISD Board of Trustees on June 5, 2017. Dr. Brewer has served as high school principal at Milano ISD since 2015. She previously served as an administrator at Caldwell ISD for 5 years and as a counselor for 10 years. She started as English Language Arts teacher at Caldwell Junior High in 1995, where she taught for 4 ½ years.

Dr. Brewer brings with her a passion for public education, empowering staff, with a solution focused approach. She brings experience with accountability and success with school improvement including setting and meeting high expectations with academic rigor.

Dr. Brewer, a native of Lampasas County, earned her Doctorate of Educational Leadership from Lamar University and her Master’s in Educational Psychology and Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology from Texas A&M University. She holds the following certifications: Secondary English, Secondary Psychology, School Counseling, Vocational Counseling, Special Education Counseling, Principal, and Superintendent. Dr. Brewer and her husband, Bo Brewer, have six children: Justin, Wendy, Quint, Quade, Jacy, and Jaxon.

Ronnie Gonzalez approved as Assistant Superintendent of Operations

Ronnie Gonzalez was approved as the Assistant Superintendent of Operations during the Special Board Meeting, by the NISD Board of Trustees on June 5, 2017. Ronnie has served as the district’s Chief Administrative Officer since 2013 and was previously the Director of Technology for Navasota Schools since 2005. Gonzalez began his educational career in 1999 at Navasota Junior High, as a U.S./Texas History and Desktop Publishing teacher.

Mr. Gonzalez is currently a candidate for his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Lamar University. He earned his Master’s of Education in Educational Technology and Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology from Texas A&M University. Ronnie and his wife, Myra of 16 years have two children, Ariana who is an 8th grader at Navasota Junior High School and Ava, who is a 2nd grader at John C. Webb Elementary.

Mr. Gonzalez currently serves as the TCEA Board Area 6 Director and has served in that capacity since 2012. He also serves on the Central Office Committee for the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) as a representative for Region 6.
