Title IX

The following information is provided in response to 34 C.F.R. Part 106.8 of the 2020 Title IX Regulations, mandating notice of a non-discrimination policy and adoption and publication of grievance procedures that provide for the prompt and equitable resolution of student and employee complaints.

Navasota ISD Non-Discrimination Policy:

It is the policy of the Navasota Independent School District not to discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, handicap, or disability in its environment practices as required by Title IV of the Civil Rights Act of 1975, as amended, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, the Age Discrimination Act of 1975, as amended, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended & the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1992.

Title IX Coordinator

Navasota ISD has designated and authorized the following employee to serve as its Title IX Coordinator to address concerns or questions regarding discrimination on the basis of sex, including sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking, or gender-based harassment.

If an employee or student believes that he or she has been discriminated against in violation of Title IX you may report any of the following ways:

  • Any individual may report sex discrimination, including sexual harassment, at any time, including during non-business hours, by mail, phone, or email. Title IX Complaint Form
  • During district business hours, reports may also be made in person
  • To view an electronic copy of the District's Title IX policies, FFH (LEGAL)  and (LOCAL) and DIA(LEGAL) and (LOCAL), please go to the Navasota ISD Board Policy Manual.

To obtain a copy of the District’s Title IX policies, including the grievance process that complies with 34 C.F.R. § 106.45(b) of the 2020 Title IX Regulations, please contact Derek Bowman at 936-825-4281.

Upon receiving an allegation of sex-based harassment, the Title IX Coordinator will promptly respond in accordance with board policies FFH and DIA. Inquiries about the application of Title IX may be referred to the district’s Title IX Coordinator, to the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights of the Department of Education, or both.
