Graduation 2010
Graduation
for the NHS Class of 2010 is set for Friday, June 4, at 8 p.m. at
Rattler Stadium. Gates will open at 6:30 p.m. Please enter through the
Home entrance. Overflow parking will be at the junior high school and
behind the junior high and high schools. The band booster club will
have water available for purchase inside the main gate. No outside food
or drinks are allowed in the stadium. |

yearbooks
are on sale now through June 4. The cost is $50. Yearbooks can be
personalized with names for an additional $5. Orders should be placed

Rattler Centers After School Programs for Summer
Navasota
ISD will host a
series of summer day camps and workshops for students through the 21st
Century Community Center Learning Grant it received this spring. Each
camp runs three to four days with the first sessions beginning June 8.
Topics include math, reading, photography, animation, theatre, history,
music, technology, self defense, poetry, and SAT and ACT test
preparation. Primary camps will take place at John C. Webb Elementary
and secondary camps will take place at Navasota Junior High School.
Transportation will be provided by Durham Transportation, and students
will meet in the school cafeterias for breakfast. Summer camps run
concurrently with summer school classes. Registration forms can be
obtained from each campus office.

Navasota Education Foundation Delivers Spring Grants

After School Program Coordinator Gerry Williams, intermediate school
student Destiny Sargent, and Superintendent Rory Gesch.  | Two
students at Navasota Intermediate School were rewarded for their
participation in the school's enrichment tutorial program this spring.
Destiny Sargent won an iPod Touch and Paige Meece won an iPad when
their names were drawn in front of the entire school Tuesday morning
before classes began. The tutorial program is part of the 21st Century
Community Learning Centers Grant the district received earlier this
year. Programs through this grant began in May and will run through the
summer at the intermediate, junior high, and high schools. The Navasota
Education Foundation also awarded grants to 13 educators at Navasota
Junior High School. Among the grants awarded was $5,000 to math teacher
Cara Moreland and desktop publishing NISD After School Program Coordinator Gerry Williams, intermediate school student Paige Meece, and Superintendent Rory Gesch.  | teacher Monica Guerrero entitled Learning with New Technology.
The money will fund an iPad lab at the junior high school. The science
department will also purchase SMART Slates which allow interaction with
a SMART Board from up to 32 feet away. |
