INTERMEDIATE LIBRARY OPEN DURING SUMMER
The
Navasota Intermediate School library is open during the summer to
intermediate students and their families, including incoming 4th
graders and outgoing 5th graders. Students may check out two books per
visit. Books may be checked out for one week. Computers will also be
available. Students must be accompanied by an adult. Library hours are
Monday-Thursday, 7-Noon until July 8.

Board Approves Principal Candidate for Intermediate
Superintendent Rory Gesch, Layla Perez, Frank Perez, and Maribel Perez.  | The
Navasota ISD Board of Trustees approved the employment of Maribel Perez
as Navasota Intermediate School's principal effective July 1 at a
special meeting Monday night. Perez comes to Navasota from Freer ISD
where she served most recently as principal at Freer High School and
director of curriculum and instruction prior to that. Perez was a
teacher of gifted-and-talented and bilingual students at Alice ISD for
nine years. She was also a reading facilitator at San Diego ISD. Perez
and her husband, Frank, have a daughter, Layla, who is entering 7th
grade and a son, Sonny, who attends Texas A&M University. Nine
candidates were interviewed for the principal position. Candidates
interviewed before a 15-person, campus-based committee once which
recommended three finalists who then went through a second interview
process with district administrative departments and superintendent
Rory Gesch. The school district began the process in April by hosting
an open forum in which Navasota Intermediate School parents were
invited to express their views about a desired profile for the school's
next principal.
