The Navasota Athletic Booster Club will host a golf tournament Jan. 30. The booster club just completed a $40,000 renovation of the softball and baseball fields and has other projects that need funding.

Junior High Counselor Receives Distinguished Educator of the Year Award From Sam Houston State University  Kim Falkenbury
Navasota Junior High School counselor Kim Falkenbury has been awarded the 2010 Distinguished Educator of the Year Award by the Sam Houston State University College of Education. The award is the highest honor the College of Education bestows upon its alumni. Falkenbury was one of more than 100 educators nominated this year. She will be recognized at the College of Education awards ceremony March 6 along with four other educators. The purpose of these awards is to recognize and honor alumni educators who have made a significant contribution to the field of education. Nominees must be an alumnus of SHSU College of Education and have demonstrated expertise or outstanding service (current or retired) in the classroom, school, district, and/or community.
Falkenbury has been with Navasota ISD for 17 years, teaching computer literacy, desktop publishing and math at the junior high level before becoming a school counselor.

Facebook in Education - There are Apps for That!    
Peak interest, connect, communicate, discover, probe, inquire, apply, extend, establish relationships, demonstrate...learn; all things teachers strive for with students. In an effort to take learning to students (and parents) and to make connections with today's kids where they live and learn, some teachers in the district are trying what has become the most used social network in the world - Facebook. While Facebook is still a great way to find friends and stay connected socially, it can also be a tool for teaching and learning; class projects, communication with students and parents, demonstrating appropriate use of online communication tools, helping students to develop digital citizenship and literacy, and establishing personal learning networks with other education professionals all are possible uses of Facebook in education. No More Lost Report Cards!
Parents/Students Can Access Grades Online With  Pinnacle Internet Viewer
"I lost my report card" is no longer an excuse. Parents of Navasota ISD students can access information about their children's progress online with Pinnacle Internet Viewer. This application allows parents to view their student's grades and attendance in a real-time atmosphere. By using the student's ID number and the password assigned by the school district, parents can view current information as well as information from previous grading periods. Parents should contact their child's school counselor in person to obtain a password. ONLINE GRADEBOOK
